TIPS FOR TRAVELING ABROAD

vacation

Having a family holiday abroad will put you away from your daily routine. The new environment will refresh your energy, renew your vision and remake your family bonds.

Having a holiday abroad can cost you more than it should be if you do not make a complete plan for your trip. You must realize that sudden booking on tickets and hotels can cost you more than buying long before your departure. Especially when you are not in a hurry, you can take a look for special discounts offered by your travel agents.

Meals and transportation can be a problem in your destination since you may not know much about them. Moreover, you can have more problems when you find out that your kids and spouse may have different interests. Your spouse might want a spa treatment, your kids want to visit the biggest zoo in town, and you want to visit the museum.

You have a choice to join a tour package held by the travel agency, but such a tour may bring you seeing and visiting what is out of your interests and you are tight to the group schedule even when you are bored and tired.

Another alternative is for you to make your own group tour package, but of course it is going to cost you a bit more expensive.

That is why several people like to travel abroad individually with their own plans and join the local tour on their own schedules.

For you who like to travel abroad individually with your own family, here are some tips you can do:
  • Decide which country you want to visit. Find out what you are going to do there. You need to know information about sightseeing, zoos, museums, gardens, local shows, shopping places and other tourist attractions, including when it is open and close. This information will be useful for arranging your daily schedule.

  • Look for competitive price for hotels and tickets. Early bookings will cost you less, also if you can get a special offer by travel agents. Only use a credible travel agent to accommodate your trip.

  • Look for information about local transportation, including how much it will cost you from place to place (from airport to your hotel or to downtown), how much for renting a car, rate for trains or other public transportation.

  • Look for weather forecast information during your visit, so you can bring proper clothes. Bringing the wrong dress code might end up in wasting your money to buy new clothes that suitable with the weather.

  • Make sure you and your family will be accommodated by clean and acceptable meals, you should know where is the closest food centre (restaurant). It will be interesting if you could taste the local cuisine. Food can also show the culture of the local people.

  • Look for recommended malls or markets to shop souvenirs and gifts, check whether bargaining is allowed there. It would be fun to do some bargaining to get a competitive price instead of wasting your money unnecessarily just because you do not know that bargaining is allowed.

  • If it is possible, you should bring your family to attend cultural shows (dancing, opera or other specialty shows)

  • Looking for a local tour guide. Usually there will be a tourist desk in your hotel’s lobby, you can ask your concierge about it. Or you could make an order by email before your departure, so when you arrive, everything is ready.

  • Make a budget based on your plan and information. Sometimes you must cut some unimportant expenditures if your budget is not enough to accommodate the whole package.

  • Bring enough cash in local currency with you.

  • If your destination is not safe for tourist, it is better to use your credit cards and traveler checkques. Please be careful with your expenditures. Using credit card will tempt you to go over your budget.

By having a complete travel plan, you can avoid wasting time in your destination to scroll what to do. You must realize that when you are abroad, time will cost you money. You must enjoy your trip effectively.

Happiness doesn’t depend on how much you have to enjoy.
But how much you enjoy what you have.
