A Friend I Met

Today I meet a happy and interesting man; He is a husband with 3 kids. Let’s say his name is Mr Lucky (I think better not to mention his name here). He works as an insurance agent with 11 years experiences.

Not only that, he say that he has a harmonious family and his income is good, he not only gets commissions but also salary. What a good insurance company, right?
Last month when his oldest son got sick then company paid all the expenses, in which is around $1,500 for 10 days on the hospital.

But he misses his children 5 days a week, as he works in another town. Yes, he is a weekend husband. After office hours he just stays at his rent home reading a book, watching TV and calling his family.

You know guys, I feel sorry for him. He is a nice guy, he always smile and he has a positive mindset.

What is lack on him is that he doesn’t get the financial independent mindset yet, which will be important for his family.

Can you imagine if someday he can’t work anymore because of sickness? How can he afford his children to college? Especially he is the only bread winner in the house. And when I asked whether his wife is a working mom, he answered me plainly, that she can’t work as she has to take care of 3 kids at the same time.

On our conversation I asked him whether he has another income stream, such as investment. He said he has money deposits with enough amounts to live without work for 2 years. That’s good for him, but still I worry as he maybe doesn’t realize the danger of inflation.

Then as we still have to be in the same trip for 2 more hours, I introduce him to a good book which will bring benefit to his insurance business, and at the same time I hope he can opened his eyes to an understanding of how important to be financially independent.

I introduced a book from
Michael Masterson, Seven Years to Seven Figures the Fast-Track Plan to Becoming a Millionaire. “This is a good book I said, It won’t only open our mind, but also teach about sales and else. There are lots of people experiences here”. (Well, I hope he get the book now)

I also mention how important to have a multi streams of income. At least doesn’t he want to give a better life for his family? Get a bigger house, a vacation abroad with the whole family? I said to him it’s all possible without he is leaving his job.

He can have another job after his office hours, and I suggest him to try internet marketing, it’s a good business with flexibility of time. And it offers him unlimited income at the same time.

Or actually he can try another shot, like open a street café at night, be a copywriter, anything else he can do after office hours.

Sometimes it is only about mindset, about how are you going to pay now for the advantages in the future. Some people don’t want and not eager to leave some of their comfort. And these people really have to pay for their choices later.

And how about you guys? I really hope that you are an optimist person who is willing to try a shot for getting your financial freedom.
